Toxic PCs Essay Computer hardware can contain a variety of toxic and hazardous materials. Today I’m going to talk about these kinds of materials and why they are toxic to our environment. I’m going to discuss the locations of disposed electronics and how it is done. When consumers donate old televisions and monitors to recyclers those companies should dispose of them in a manner that doesn’t harm the environment. Stockpiling monitors is hazardous to the environment. This is because the glass could easily break and the lead which is a neurotoxin material enters the soil and ground water. One of the major environmental impacts of dumping computers into landfills is due to the fact that the solder used in the components of the circuit boards is comprised of a tin-lead alloy and over time the lead can leach from the solder. Usually the lead, which is a toxic substance, finds its way into the drinking water (Warren, Scott) There are different type of companies that recycle electronics in different communities and some of them are nonprofit companies you just donate your computer to them for example there is this company in Michigan it is called Responsible Electronics Recycling they recycle computer the right way breaking computers into small particles and removing all the toxic material from getting into our environment. The role of disposing electronic has a great advantage because when monitors get recycled the right way they can be reused again for goods. The Responsible Electronic Recycling Company says: Our mission is to inspire our community to live and work in a sustainable manner. This mission is accomplished by providing environmentally responsible electronics recycling and green job training for at-risk youth and challenged adults. 100% of proceeds generated go toward community service programs that focus on education and environmental initiatives (Responsible Electronic Recycling). And this is how recycling is done to these electronics. I think the technology will have an influence on our health and our environment because of all the toxic material that is used in the advanced electronics and if our air is polluted then it is going to have an effect on our health. The health effects of toxic substances and hazardous wastes are not yet fully understood. Research to better understand how these exposures may impact health is ongoing. Meanwhile, efforts to reduce exposures continue. Reducing exposure to toxic substances and hazardous wastes is fundamental to environmental health  (Geneva, Switzerland). I think if we take care of our environment meaning by not polluting the air and soil we will be able to reduce the risk of having any health problems but if we do not do so this polluted environment will lead us to have issues regarding our economy later on in the future. Therefore we need to work on educating each other and take action. Finally after looking at all the information above I think now we see why we need to think carefully when we are getting rid of an old computer or any electronic. We need to make sure that if our computer been donated to a manufacture for disposal it is going to be disposed properly and everyone should take this into consideration and practice the right way to recycle electronics. The Hmong people is a minority ethnic group that resides in several countries worldwide. Hmong people is originally from Laos, a Asian country. The Hmong people usually resides on the mountains and their life has revolved around their inherent lifestyle and beliefs. War and migration along with the long history of being an oppressed ethnic group developed Hmong way of life. However, the Hmong culture is so persistent despite the forces of change around. The typical day of a Hmong family will start usually at four in the morning or when the rooster crows. The oldest daughter or daughter-in-law prepare the breakfast for the family, feed the animals and do the household chores. The husband occasionally helps his wife in feeding the animals and grinding the corn. After breakfast, the working members of the family will head out to the field and leave their children at the care of their paternal grandparents. Children who are six years old and older accompany their parents in the fields and do what they can do to help. The working members of the family usually go home before sunset and they gather firewood, plants and herbs along the way to add to their supplies at home. Hmong always have dinner together as a family and share stories of the day. A traditional Hmong family is patriarchal and the son tends to not to leave the house of his parents to work for them and to have someone to take care of his children while he and his wife is out tending the fields. Hmong are group oriented and they tend to depend on each other for survival. Thus, the interest of the groups must come first before the vested interest of the individual. â€Å"Family is the basic social unit in the conventional Hmong society. It is the unit of production, consumption, socialization, social control and mutual assistance. The common Hmong family is composed of an extended family that is made up of many generations. Hmong people are animists, they acquire strong belief in spirits and the supernatural world that cannot be explained by exact science. However, most of the Hmong people in United States become Christians but the traditional spiritual beliefs remain in them as part of their cultural practices. Still, practices and ceremonies are altered as Hmong adapt on the American society. Hmong people deeply believes that the souls live in a supernatural world. These spirits decide when a person dies. Also, they believe that these spirits or souls are Hmong people waiting to be born or to be reborn and reenter the earth. Furthermore, many Hmong believe that every person has a personal spirit who takes care of him, just like a guardian angel. Contacts with these spirits is usually done by the shaman or the religious and medical leader of the group. The shaman is the Hmong resident physician and their role is mainly to heal sick people and to prevent further spreading of illness or disease through interaction of the spirits. The shaman is one of the most important people in the Hmong village. He is the one who provides hope in times of crises. The shaman also guides the people in difficult situations. In addition to the shaman, Hmong people also practice traditional alternative medicine through the use of herbs and plants which grow in the wild in the mountains. From these plants, they produce ointments and salves to help them with their injuries and to make the sick feel better. However, Hmong people in the United States adapted to the American modernized medicine. But still, Hmong people continue to visit a shaman once in a while as part of their rich and undying custom and tradition.

Many people start the restaurant business as they have love for food and customers. If the owner is smart enough and takes a proactive strategy, he can successfully save money for the business and can have more resources for running the business. The business can cut the expenditure in various ways. They are as follows: Involve the staffs: The owner will never be able to save money until he involves his whole team in the planning process. However, simply asking them to save money will not be effective. The staff must have clear idea about how much they are spending on wasted foods and utilities. Reward the employees: It will be a nice idea to appreciate the employees and rewarding them for meeting the objectives. If any employer is trying to cutting the cost, he must be ensured that the owner is noticing his approach and appreciating him Social media: social media is a great and cost effective method to advertise for the business. For example, face book and twitter are the great platform for marketing the product with zero cost. Cut on freebies: through cutting on freebies, the restaurant owner can save on unnecessary cost. This does not mean that they should stop giving freebies, but they should offer the freebies only when asked by the customer. This way they can avoid wasting the food. Daily inventory: Doing the inventory on daily basis will assist the owner to keep track of inventories and the staff members will not be able to take home the items secretly (Bernstein and Sheen 2016). Shareholders equity can be increased through the following ways: Increase in Paid Capital: Shareholder may contribute in capital, for example, in property and equipment, cash to a incorporated restaurant industry. Paid-in capital that are excess of the par value of shares stated in the capital part of the shareholders equity segment of the financial statement (Liu et al. 2015). Decrease in Liabilities: Equity states the offerings that the stockholders of a restaurant business contribute and their demand against the asset of the company. Stockholders equity is same to the difference between the company's total assets and total liabilities. Increase in Outstanding Shares: Ordinary stock appears in the stockholders equity section of the financial statement. When a restaurant business makes a offering for new stock, it increases company's paid-in capital as well as the number of outstanding shares (Chang et al. 2013). Cost of exit the business: Various costs are involved in exiting the business. They are: Cost of selling: if the company wishes to sell the business to third part or to any employee it involves cost such as cost of closing the business, cost of broker (Gurjar and Rathore 2013). Payments: Before closing the business the owner must pay the dues to the staffs, suppliers, any revenue expenses like electric bills, payment of rent (Chesbrough 2013). Conclusions: It is concluded from the above discussions that if the company goes for the exit strategy, it will need money to pay off the various charges. Moreover, all the future options will be closed with the exit option. Gaining further investment from the investor will also not be a easy task for any start up business as the investor always prefer to invest in established business to get certain amount of return. The only option that is open to the owner is to improve the spending and shareholders equity.
